Glitch generator
« on: September 11, 2015, 04:08:34 pm »
What is used as "glitch generator" in this video?
https://youtu.be/uDBuUI5GZ7Q?t=2020

I know that it was used several times in some previous videos.
Is it some professional tool, or homebrew one?
How to build one? I am not able to find any scheme :(

I think it's coming from his Agilent scope. It has a training mode that will generate a bunch of different signals to teach you how to trigger on them.

I think you are right. Dave mentioned it in some video years ago (I think).

Anyway, could anyone give some advice how to build similar glitch generator?

I made one with a PIC24F Microstick (http://www.microchip.com/DevelopmentTools/ProductDetails.aspx?PartNO=DM240013-2) a couple of months ago. This includes a PIC with a pair of DACs. The board has an integrated programmer/debugger, so all you need is the board itself hardware-wise.

I did code for random glitch generation, random runt pulses, AM modulation, and AM modulation with glitches. I didn't get around to adding I2C/SPI/UART.

If there's any interest I'll tidy the code up, add the serial generators and publish it.

Yeah, sure I am interested to see your code ;)
I have Pickit3 programmer/debugger, so I could build my own board.
I am learning, so this little project could be good for me.
