Direct drive controller for linear motor
(1/1)
cmcraeslo:
Hey all.
I have linear motor that i'd like to drive as an actuator (basically just on/off). I'm looking for the best and simplest way to actuate it fully in and fully out. Motor is capable of 2kW and I'll be running it at 48V. It needs to be as fast as possible and with maxium torque possible. Travel is only 25mm. No slow stops or starts. It will stop mechanically. Ideally, i'm looking for a solution that has all the logics & sensorless readings inside the chip, so only thing i'd wire up are the mosfets that will be driving the motor (+ other required stuff of course). I'd like to avoid china's 15usd modules.
Thanks in advance.

Is it an actual linear motor or a traditional motor integrated with a lead screw or similar? Motor type? Induction? Permanent magnet AC / BLDC? Brushed DC? Without any specs about the motor, it's hard to say anything.

It's an actual linear motor. Coils are in the outside part and magnets in the middle.
