VS Code for Microchip PIC development
« on: October 28, 2021, 07:41:09 pm »
Hi,
has anybody used VS Code (NOT Visual Studio) for writing code for PIC controllers?

If so:
1) is it easy to setup?
2) Do you then compile using MPLAB?
3) Does it work ok with the source files being open in both MPLAB and VSCode at the same time?

Thank you :)

Xc8 can be configured to run  from the command line , I created a version that platformio uses and I use platformio in VSCode

But to be honest I now use MPLABX, it’s just easier to setup

Thank you both! :)

How easy is it to setup if you have never used VS Code before?

Does it have debugging capabilities for in-circuit debuggers like J-Link and/or ICD4?

Thank you again! :)
