Title: DIY AOI RGB Inspection Light
Post by: MicroBiggerThanMM on February 08, 2021, 01:11:13 am
Hello,
I just saw EEVBlog 1372 and need to shamelessly plug this project I've recently done.

Say you need to inspect your PCB for solder fillet quality because you wanna pat yourself on the back.
You could buy a $1000 professional AOI light which illuminates different angles with different colors, or you could say "YOLO" and build one for less than $10.

It's simply a 3D printed dome with 5MM LED's soldered together. Not rocket science, but those pictures are phenomenal!

I will consider selling these as a kit for $20 and assembled for $50 if people are interested (it takes a few hours of labor to insert and solder each one). Probably on Tindie or eBay.

I don't believe in markups and charging people "what they're willing to pay" because it doesn't feel nice. But hey, I don't have a mortgage to pay.
