| [DIY] Electronics project box fitted on top of a pole |
| (1/2) > >> |
| epigramx:
I have a pole with a 5/8''-11 screw sticking out the top of it. I have a waterproof 150x90x75mm plastic box with an electronics project in it that I want to fit on the pole (on demand, it shouldn't be permanent). How do I go on about it? I'm currently thinking of getting a 5/8'' nut, sticking it under the box (probably in a hole) and securing it with hot glue. |

Glue a fiberglass flange nut https://www.mcmaster.com/hex-flange-nuts to the bottom of the box with JB Weld. Glue the flange part to the box for more surface area in contact with the glue and use a wrench on the hex to tighten and loosen it. Something like a fiber washer or even a garden hose gasket between the nut and the pole may help keeping it from loosening without having to torque it too much. |

I'd be tempted to ignore the screw and glue a strip of plastic, metal or wood to your box, then ziptie it to the pole. Or hoseclamps if you don't trust zipties. Way less chance of failure if it gets a bump. |

if you have to take it down often and on demand, how about use of a pulley and a rope? Does it really have to stay on top of the pole? |
