DIY Home Made BGA rework Station

Hello all, I'm looking to build my own BGA rework station like this fellow did here Cost him only around 150.00 USD

I'm trying to improve my electronics skills and would like to have a rework station that doesn't cost a fortune. I like this guys setup, I've watched him reball several chips and it seems to do a good job. Best part is he's posted all the parts he's used to build it! As well as a diagram to put it together. (check the info on the video)

Here comes the BUT, the techFX Reflow Controller is long gone. I can find all the other parts no problem.

Can someone reccommend a replacement for the TechFX reflow controller that will function in this setup?

I kind of have the same problem. I also found this guy setup and the parts list and hit the same issue - the people that sold that reflow controller are no longer doing it.
Anyway, there are some question marks about this guy's setup. I'm not going to enter into details now and here, but for sure I'm going to ask for some opinions at some point.

Doing my own research, trying to find a proper replacement for the, no longer available, reflow controller, i found these products:

https://github.com/0xPIT/reflowOvenController/blob/master/README.md - open source, was sold on Tinder but no longer, I couldn't reach Karl Pitrich, the designer. He gives enough information about the product so it's not hard to build it, but he was not happy about the LCD response time and a few other things and I'm not overly eager to dig into code to fix something that someone else, with clearly more knowledge than me in this area, didn't do it.
- http://ospid.com/blog/ - also open source, schematics and code available. However, at one of the distributors the product says "retired", the other one is redirected to some electronics repairing shop, I didn't try to contact them. I've seen a video or two on Youtube about it, it didn't convince me much. Maybe because it was only about the product and not about a final product - a reflow oven or something like this.

- http://multitc.is-best.net/index.htm - EUR 50 inside European Union, $57 for international. I'm still reading the stuff on the site as I'm trying to understand if the controller would do the job for a BGA rework station. The owner/designer replied vary fast but, unfortunately, I don't see any reviews on the internet about his product
- https://www.whizoo.com/ - Controleo3 $109 USA, $121 international for the basic kit.

From all, the most appealing is the last one, Controleo3. I was impressed by the touch screen response (check Youtube) and all the reviews from people that used it for reflow ovens are very good. Now, I don't want a reflow oven, I want a BGA rework station. This may or may not complicate the things - I simply don't know yet, I'm still doing my homework.

The controller is what I'm most interested in.
Let me know if anything peaks your interest with that one. I'll be researching the others you linked.

Also let me know if you do find a good setup or mainly a controller your happy with.  :-+

andy3055 thank you for the link, but I have long known that project. That project does not have any advantages in comparison with the project on the forum Amperka.ru. These are completely different projects, and they are designed for different purposes. Topic on the forum Amperka.ru for more than three years, we have been using components powered by +5 volts and with TTL signal levels. We are developing both versions with character displays and versions with TFT color LCD 3.2-3.95" 480x320. We have two temperature measurement channels. Our PID library has been converted from fractions to integers, which has a beneficial effect on the speed of calculations, because AtMega168p/328p/2560 do not have a floating-point block.

Тот проект не имеет никаких преимуществ, в сравнении с проектом на форуме Amperka.ru.  Это совсем разные проекты, и они предназначены для разных целей. Теме на форуме Amperka.ru уже больше трёх лет, мы используем комплектующие с питанием +5 вольт и с уровнями сигналов TTL. Мы развиваем и версии с символьными дисплеями, и версии с TFT color LCD 3.2-3.95" 480x320. У нас два канала измерения температуры. У нас библиотека PID переведена с дробных на целые числа, что благотворно сказалось на скорости вычислений, потому что AtMega168p/328p/2560 не имеют блока для работы с плавающей запятой.)

This version is the most compact, specially optimized for the use of inexpensive components: an arduino Board on AtMega168p / 328p (5v / 16MHz), LCD1602 without i2c, one MAX6675 module, a homemade (or purchased)analog keyboard with 5 buttons, a homemade (or purchased) 3-4-channel relay Board on 12V, 2 fans on 12V.
Here there is only one channel of the upper heater, and the preheater of the mainboards (lower heater) can be used any available, whether it is manual or automatic.
Despite the presence of only the upper heater control channel, the controller has a fairly wide range of functions, and also allows you to plot diagramm the temperature/time in the program on the PC monitor.
When soldering starts, the cooling fan of the triac and controller turns on and the red flashing led turns on.
After soldering is complete, you can turn on and off the external fan to cool the Board you have soldered.   При старте пайки включается вентилятор охлаждения симисторов и контроллера и красный мигающий светодиод.
  После завершения пайки можно включать и отключать внешний вентилятор для охлаждения платы, которую вы паяли.)

I’ve been doing my best to translate the large amount of information there, though the language barrier has definitely been the biggest challenge. I was hoping you might be able to help answer a couple of questions?
