DIY Soldering Iron Holder - What Kind of Material?
« on: August 18, 2019, 10:42:36 pm »
I see many soldering iron holders have a "plastic" ring the the iron goes into.  This piece must obviously be able to withstand some high temperatures.  Does anyone know what kind of material the stands are made of?  I'm looking into doing a custom holder for several irons.  Thanks!

A phenolic material would be ideal.

Bent copper wire (4-6 mm²) soldered to some PCB stock.
