DPS5005 based power supply
(1/1)
pyrohamish:
I'm looking to build a basic pair of power supplies.

As I would like to be able to series them e.g. for a -15/0/+15 supply, I assume that both input power supplies need to be isolated. I'm trying to find some suitable power supplies at about 48v 300w.

Is this SMPS range likely to be suitable i.e. isolated?
Power Supply 1

or can I parallel (for 300w per supply) something like this:
Power supply 2

Worst case (or is it better, albeit heavier?) if I get a torroidal transformer and use a rectifier with LC filter, RD tech recommends 2200mF cap and 47mF inductor, I assume this is meant to be 47mH? Are these good general use values?

JuanGg:
Those DPS5005 modules are not isolated. They have the shunt resistor right between the negative input and the negative output. So yes, you'll need isolated power supplies, one for each module. I wouldn't go to the maximum 250 W.
