Soldering DC charger to F-type connector cable
« on: May 21, 2024, 05:42:59 am »
Hi,
I want to solder a new charger like this:
2229133-0

So I think I need to buy 14V 1A+ AC/DC charger and solder it to F-type connector,
But I'm not sure where should I solder the GND to on the connector

And if I solder the DC charger to the wire itself which of the parts is the GND? (The Aluminum shield?)

Thanks.

Aluminum is not easy to solder and the central connector may be copper plated steel.  You might be able to solder to a standard connector and the center conductor, then heat shrink over it.

Thanks for your reply,

jpanhalt, What do you mean by a "standard connector"?

jonpaul, How do I know which is the "correct" female f connector?

I meant  a connector plated  with a solderable metal, like nickel. I suspect that's common.  Then, solder a wire to the connector and crimp that to your Type F coax shield.

A female connector, as shown by jonpaul, could be soldered to the leads from your power supply.  Then use a gender changer  to get the male Type F .  They are about $6 at Amz.
