I'm designing a custom bike light system powered by 18650 lithium batteries. There are four of them, wired 2S2P (2 in parallel connected in series to another two in parallel). The pack itself will be completely watertight (wrapped in electrical tape, or maybe self-amalgamating silicone tape) and the 3-pin connector which connects it to the LED driver board (custom) is IP68 rated. Since the risk of the cells shorting inside the pack is very low, I'm putting the protection circuit on the LED driver board.
I had trouble finding a lithium battery protection IC on Farnell UK (I prefer to use Farnell as they do free one-day shipping), so a cursory search on Aliexpress turned up the DW01 (datasheet (http://www.ic-fortune.com/upload/Download/DW01-P_DataSheet_V10.pdf)), by Fortune Semiconductors. It looks like a perfect fit, but I'm a little wary of buying ICs from Aliexpress, having heard stories about counterfeits. I found a listing (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-10PCS-DW01-SOT23-6/1578933575.html) from a seller with a very good feedback rating – should I buy it?
Previously I have bought several things from Aliexpress, and found it cheaper and faster (in shipping) than eBay.

DW01 is pretty common, I wouldn't be surprised if there are clones of it but I doubt they'd perform all that differently; IIRC the DW01 is itself a clone of a similar Seiko part.

Seiko S-8244 series?
