I have a Husqvarna automover for my lawn. Want to build a detector for the cables in the ground.
Anybody that can point out a schematic for it? What will work for this purpose?
thanks.

Is this to prevent you from hitting cables, or to follow a route via a buried cable?
If the first, do you have access to the wiring to injlect a signal?, do you only want to detect mains, or telecom aswell

It's just to find exactly where it is on the lawn... If one needs to dig..
I have access to the cables to insert voltage if necessary.

So what is the role of the lawnmower?
It only works on the surface and shouldn't hit anything buried below it.
What sort of cables are you looking for?
Just mains?
Can you access both ends of these cables?

Yes...i can access both ends. Today the lawnmover can itself detect the cable in the ground, and bounces back and changes the direction to continue cutting the grass another direction. But if i want to dig some hole in the ground i need to be able to detect it by myself. Just want to avoid cutting the cable and kill the functionality. But even if i can access both ends i do not want to disconnect the charge station where all the wires are connected to and then insert higher voltage. I just want to be able to detect the wires when in operation...just as the lawnmover does...

my wires are not visible its under the ground.

So the cables in question are the mower's boundary wires?
Can't you just make the mower run over a spot you where want to dig and see if it continues to drive over the spot or changes direction?
If you want to make some sort of handheld sensor you should investigate what the base station does with the wires.
What voltage and current can you measure? What about frequency/waveform/dutycycle?
If you open up the mower, can you identify the sensor?
If so, what can you measure around it?
You could temporarily connect a short run of above ground wire for testing.

Came here to see a device that could automatically move my lawn and was disappointed, now I'll have to do it myself.
