Title: Fancy PCB Cutout (HP Easter Egg)
Post by: TradieTrev on September 23, 2012, 07:25:01 am
G'day guys,

Curious to know "what were they thinking" after designing this HP Laptop expansion pack. Functionally it's a simple sata + data connector, practically I can see many hours of unwanted and wasted effort.

What do you see?

Maybe they had a minimum size requirement for easy assembly and the designer tried the "shape to board outline" feature of his CAD tool? It doesn't exactly look like wasted hours, more like half a lunch break.

Too bad easter eggs are not allowed at the company I work for :'(

It's a "conveniently shaped handle for easy removal and installation" :)

I didn't, I was caught ;D
Nothing serious happened, we just had a laugh and decided to remove it. It was a little easter egg in the user interface.
I did manage to sneak it into a development tool instead :P

Thanks for the input! My first easter egg find makes a nice keyring, we'll see how long it lasts lol
