Can anyone ID these MOSFETS?
« on: September 14, 2014, 03:10:36 pm »
Ok, my 'Google-foo' has let me down, so can anyone ID these FETS?

They are, I expect, N channel TO-247s, with a pretty healthy peak current capability, as they are from an automotive 'lecy power steering H bridge, so run at a nominal 13.7Vdc

As above, made by Sanken...

See datasheet below for MLD685D , may be slightly different in specs from the non-D one.

Thanks!  No idea how i managed to miss that one!  Even lists EPAS as suggested use!!  ;-)

BTW, if anyone wants a cheap low voltage, high current H bridge, modifying this power steering controller looks to be a cinch, as the entire power stage is separate to the control PCB:

It has input and ouput isolation (via 2 relays), filter caps, H bridge via 4 of those FETS, and even a current sensor, all built in! And all the control and feedback is via through hole pins that stick up through the control pcb.  it would be dead easy to do your own control pcb!
