Title: Generating DXF and then PCB file from Gerber Data
Post by: keshab.patel on June 03, 2017, 05:26:56 am
HI..
I have only gerber data for a design  in which I need to edit few components.

Is it possible to generate dxf from gerber data then import it in pads pcb and change it.

Working with Gerbers is always painful.

Not sure about your software package, but I suggest you try to get the Gerber layers into the PCB directly if possible. Going via DXF will add rounding errors which can be painful later.

Thank you. I am using mentor graphics pads latout. I had to change three components from 0805 to 0603 and change the silkscreen.

Having done a lot of searching I came across this topic and the one below. In the link below small amount of help needed to get a successfull conclusion.

I notice you are using Mentor layout graphics, in the following topic there was a request for the files from an extremely simple layout:

Would you be able to make files available?

I am one of those people who have a keen interest in using the OpenBoardViewer program when repairing equipment.   :)

Just to be a bit more precise about what is needed.   Something as simple as the LM3552 example would be small enough to decode/reverse by hand.

My understanding is that both an .ASC and .PCB can be generated. Personally I have only experience with the older Protel until the big Altium took over.
