photo of the assembled board.
i need to get a vacuum tool - placing those chips with tweezers is hard - they are too large to handle them comfortably
you can see where the solder paste got nasty and flown under the mask - having no solder mask saved me - the metal pulled up all the extra solder and got not shorts on the entire area

also, i've over cooked the board ( literally - i use a cooking hotplate and i cracked it up too fast ) and the FR4 got a little scorched.

an interesting thing - the bus drivers pull a lot of current if their pins are floating - tested with a "fresh"chip and it draws ~ 50mA at 5V

the line drivers are replaced, everything else is as it's left after the re-flow
