Hi all I got this idea for replacing the single mosfet with H-Bridge for buck converter for research purposes and I am wondering what kind of topology shall I use ? because I am currently confused :-// :-// is there a benefit from doing such thing or shall I do it and share the results with everybody ? Regards |

Is any of this what you need? I really can't tell, from what you posted. We need more details... https://www.google.com/search?q=h-bridge+buck+converter+circuit&client=firefox-b-1&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjS3trr1J_fAhUIY6wKHfY9DBwQsAR6BAgBEAE&biw=1280&bih=667 |

Buck converters with 1, 2 or 4 switches: 1 switch: basic buck. Requires switch (mosfet) and diode. Current flows through diode when switch open. 2 switches: replace diode with 2nd mosfet. Body diode of mosfet acts as diode, also 2nd mosfet can be turned on so current flows through channel instead of diode and has increased efficiency. Care must be taken to include dead time to avoid shoot through. 4 switches: 2 phase buck. 2 buck regulator circuits connected in parallel (inputs and outputs tied together) and one buck driven 180° out of phase from the other (interleaved). This greatly reduces ripple voltage and allows smaller/cheaper components since the current is shared across the 2 phases. H bridge has 4 switches in it so you might be able to use them for a 2 phase buck. On top of the benefits listed above, you also only need 1 switch package (with 4 switches in it). Which might be smaller, cheaper and more efficient. |
