I'm no expert too ;) but I think the problem is simply with focus distance and optical corrections in the lens being optimized for normal operation, when focus distance on the front side (object distance) is much longer than on the back side (sensor distance). If you reverse the lens and bring the sensor close to the front to reduce magnification and increase brightness, you violate the minimum (front-side) focus distance specification of the lens, which is probably at least half meter or so. Some lenses may work that way, others may not work very well. |
