Has Dave done a tear down of this Chinese Fluke Meter?
« on: December 29, 2019, 05:52:00 pm »
This Fluke meter is on EBAY for $13.99. It a 17B version. All markings on back are in Chinese.
The manual is Chinese no English.

Another seller had started selling the same model about the same time for an unrealistically low price.
The seller's feedback is mostly from buyers with very low feedback score.

Other low price listings are just bait and switch. The price of the probes only is advertised.

The listing is actually for the 17B+ which can be calibrated without fully opening the case, http://assets.fluke.com/manuals/15BPlus_cmeng0000.pdf
I purchased the 18B+ for use in the field. Im running mine on NiMh cells to avoid electrolyte leakage damage.

Both of those eBay sellers appear to be scam accounts.

They have perfect 100% positive feedback, but it's all older sales of swimsuits and T-shirts.

One seller has sold 137 multimeters, yet there is no feedback from any buyer on this product.

The delivery estimate is 60 days, which means that you won't have a chance to leave negative feedback when the product isn't delivered, and it will have dropped off of your default 60 day history so you'll probably not notice to request a refund.

Sellers frequently complain about how the ebay refund system is heavily biased to believe the buyer.  It's because most of the problems are one-sided -- sellers like this skew the statistics by making lots of transactions before disappearing.

Edited for clarity.

These suss sellers (most likely the one and only seller with multiple accounts and ditto their employee/relatives aka fake customers)

with their 'make believe' Feedback and false stock countdown routines, are SO EASY to spot it deserves a double strength >  :palm: :palm:

why isn't Ebay on their case ?  ???

This 17B thing smells like another "$9 process meter/wtf?!' fiasco in the works  :horse:

i.e. research before clicking yourselves into a multiple back and forth chenglish reply/excuse riddled decipher drama folks,
where they'll try and make YOU the 'buyer from hell' to cover their dishonest trading practices on Ali and Ebay :--
