Help finding National Semiconductor crystal oscillator and oven application
(1/2) > >>
5065AGuru:
Hi, I need help finding an application note that was in an old National Semiconductor Linear (I believe) :-// data book. This was (I think) :-[ using an LM195/395 transistor. I remember it was a complete diagram of the oven controller and also included the crystal oscillator portion. It had some details on the construction of the oven mass and thermal sensor connection. I have found in my searches several oven designs but can't find the one that also included the crystal oscillator. If anyone can point me to the right place it would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Corby Dawson

I don't think this is what you're looking for but I figured I'd post it anyway.

Arthur,

That's not the one but it does have some interesting ideas.

Thanks,

Corby

Hi Corby,
Could it have been a Jim Williams app note? He tends to include some details on construction although a little light in the national days.
Here's one:

And there are some more ideas including the use of the LM395 as the heater driver here, flip to page 148 or so:

I used to know where my copy of the book you refer to is at.  However after remodeling the house much has been removed.  I'll see if I can find it.

It is  in an older collection book  of Nat Semi app-notes, very old... Blue with orange trim on the cover... Not many of them would be around due to the grade of paper they are printed on, which is not much better then newsprint. I bought it at a hamfest as a child.   I used to wonder what the big deal about that circuit was.  Now after learning about volt-nuts decades later, I know.

No promises, but I'll try.

Steve
