ferrite bead for 22gauge wire
« on: October 12, 2014, 02:43:55 pm »
Hi all,
years ago I used ferrite bead that could be slipped over 22 gauged wire. The freq range is 20-100 MHz.
I been unable to find a source, any help would be appreciated?

thanks

What attenuation were you after? If you look at ferrite specs you should be able to find the impedance curves that show what impedance adding the ferrite will bring. Generally, the bigger the ferrite, the more attenuation it will provide.

I used the FB43-110 from Bourns on a recent project.  Digi-Key has them.  It's similar to the Amidon FB43-101 which I think is pretty popular.  I slipped them over some transistor leads and they were a good fit.  If you're using bare wire, they might be a little bigger than what you need.  Bourns has a -085 size that should be a closer fit on bare 22 AWG wire.

Mine were type 43 material.  You might want a different material for you application.   This document has some nice curves: http://fair-rite.com/newfair/pdf/CUP%20Paper.pdf
