Help with DipTrace schematic component?
« on: May 15, 2024, 12:16:49 am »
I’m trying to find a component (NTE7413, IC TTL DUA 4-input NAND Schmitt Trigger) in DipTrace Schematic. I’m just not sure what component it’s under in the scroll down menu?

If it were there, it would be under 'IC Logic Gates Inverters', but I couldn't find any kind of 74xx13 in DipTrace's standard library.

Looks like you will need to create a component yourself using the Component Editor. It's pretty easy. Note you shouldn't need to create a footprint, as being standard 74-series logic it's probably in a standard DIP package for which a footprint already exists.

You're too hung-up on the exact part number.
Just find any 4-input NAND with schmitt trigger symbol and the correct foot-print.  Then I enter that exact part number into the value properties and display that instead of the name used from the library.

Or

If you're absolutely have to have the exact component, you will have to make your own symbol and attach the correct part pattern from the library (or make the pattern also).

All you're trying to do is have a schematic showing the correct part numbers and a PCB layout with the component foot-print.  Does it really matter how you get there?

I have made a lot of my own components to suit my tastes (or missing ones), adding foot-prints from the datasheets, and building 3D step models to attach to each.
