What are these automotive connector systems?
« on: February 16, 2021, 02:37:16 pm »
Hi there,

The following photos are from a car injection unit on a 1995 european Peugeot 205 car. On these cars this injection unit is incorporated into the throttle body. So, it is a single point throttle body injection unit. Some Peugeot 205 models have a Bosch injection unit but this one is from Weber. I do have the TU1M engine. Maybe useful info for people familiar with these cars.

I would like to know the name of two connector systems used on this injection unit.

Connector system A

Please see photo 1. The attached dimensions are in mm. The spacing between the terminals is 3.4 mm. But that was with manual measurement it could also be 3.5 mm or so. It looks a bit like TE Superseal but notice the mushroom shape with makes this one different.

Photo 2. There are also 3 and 4 terminal versions of this connector system on this injection unit. Same terminal spacing.

Connector system B

1175498-2
Photo 3. On the bottom of this one there is the AMP logo, so it should be a TE product now. I hope they still make this connector system. The terminal spacing is about 5.2 mm and on top there is text that reads “SONOCAS 6”. I wasn’t able to find anything on this text with an internet search.

Well, the chore of posting this was quite boring. But I would still be excited if someone can point me to any of these connector systems!

Have a nice day,
Zeyneb

Don't be surprised if you won't find anything, since in many cases the connectors are made by the part suppliers and molded into the part itself (e.g. the injector, ultrasonic sensor, flow sensor, etc). You might find the mating connector that goes onto wire, but that's about it.

If a question is to replace the connector - in many cases you need a replacement wire harness from a dealer (if still available) or a junkyard.

Photos 1 and 2 look like standard GM connectors.  Photo 1 looks like a connector commonly used on things like IAT (intake air temperature) sensors.  I believe this is part of the MetriPack 150 family.  At least it appears to use the same connector shape, though the retention tabs are something I've never seen.

Photo 2 looks suspiciously like a Delco/Delphi/Rochester/Whatever they're calling themselves this week IAC (idle air control) stepper motor.  I believe it is also a MetriPack 150 (or 150.2) "Pull To Seat" family.

Mouser carries a bunch of the MetriPack connectors:
https://www.mouser.com/Connectors/Automotive-Connectors/_/N-1ehb5?P=1yvsm2a&Keyword=metripack+150&FS=True

The last connector looks a lot like the Minitimer connectors that were used on fuel injectors for years, but with 7 terminals instead of 2.  It MIGHT be part of the TE Junior Timer series.  Mouser also carries them:

The idle control motor looks like a GM part.  I suspect that an idle control connector for something like a 1997 GM car or truck would fit.  Do you have a junkyard nearby?
