LM3886 Library for Eagle?
« on: June 22, 2015, 09:17:27 pm »
Does anyone have a link to a known good LM3886 object for Cadsoft Eagle?

Thanks,

Steve

Do it yourself.

Really. You absolutely need to know how to make devices for your EDA (well, okay, eagle isn't really EDA, but that's for another thread), independent of the software package. And it's usually much quicker than asking on a forum and waiting hours for a reply.

Farnell / Element 14.

http://uk.farnell.com/texas-instruments/lm3886t/amp-audio-mute-68w-3886-to-220/dp/9493603

It has an Eagle and SIM download link...

Do it urself. 5 to 10 minutes of work.

Don't use farnels libs. They're bad. Many many times I've heard of mistakes in them. And the schematic symbols are also horrible.

If you are creative enough, you can draw even something like this: http://y52.imgup.net/asfdasdass443d.png  ;D
Sooner or later you will have to learn how to do the libs anyway.

Oh, I intended, and still intend to check it carefully.  Its a common part, and I'd wager I've done far more libs then most Eagle users. I'm just rather surprised that LM3886  was removed from the included library for some reason. Probably right around the time CADSOFT  was bought by Farnell.

We use the LM3886 as a power op-amp to drive ultrafast galvanometer scanners. These are used to position laser beams.  With closed loop feedback from capacitive position sensing on the shaft, we obtain DC to 4.5 KHz response driving a 3x3 mm mirror as a load, and our mirror inertia is 0.13 gm-cm^2.  LM3886  stable when used as a inverting power op-amp with a loop  gain better then 20.

Does the above statement prove I'm NOT a newbie, just a busy guy?

I've used quite a few of the Farnell libs and they have all been fine  :-//

Of course you have to check them, that's common sense, but if there's a part already drawn and it is correct, why redraw it?!  :-/O

So busy that you rather ask than actualy spend the 5 to 10 minutes making the lib as needed :-)

Why redraw? Because each engineer has its own schematic drawing style. And for example I really dont like to use schematic objects that clearly do not fit the look of the rest. For example width of the outer rectangle of an IC ... or sorting IC pins into groups is different,  etc.

Well, the point is, that checking a library carefully takes nearly as long as just creating it, since there are methods (see the tutorials) - even with eagle - to create symbols without the potential for much error.

Personal preference doesn't impose a NEED to redraw them.

Checking a part can take a minute if that if you are efficient in using the package, I don't spend 10 minutes checking a package, and I can't say i've ever had any issues with footprints, maybe I am lucky, but I can only speak as I find.
