DP30V5A power supply using power tool batteries.
« on: February 17, 2021, 09:53:48 am »
I see there have been a few designs for battery powered power supplies here recently, so I thought I would describe a little project I put together on the weekend. It is simply a 3D printed housing for a DP30V5A power supply module that clips onto the "Ozito" power tool batteries available at Bunnings here in Oz. These batteries are quite nice general purpose power sources, as all of the protection circuitry appears to be contained in the battery pack, rather than in the tool as some other manufacturers use. The 18-20V from the pack is quite a good match for the module, although obviously the full output range is not available (though I understand buck-boost versions are also available.)

All in all it is a nice simple project if you have a 3D printer, I am happy to post the file if anyone else wants to have a go at making one.
