High Voltage Board to Board Connectors?
« on: June 19, 2015, 04:26:17 am »
Do high voltage board to board connectors exist?

I am trying to create an interconnect between a gate drive PCB and a series of power stage PCBs (which will have different typologies; VSI, CSI, etc.).  For desat protection and other features I need to bring the high side switch emitters up to the gate drive board along with bringing down gate signals to the power stage PCB.  The DC bus will go up to ~650V.  Ideally I would like to make the connection with minimum inductance.  What are people typically using for board to board connections at these voltage levels?  I haven't really found anything with a high enough voltage rating in a board to board connector style or header style.  In the past I have just done everything on a single PCB but in this case it is preferable not to.

What about common 0.1" headers with pins removed to get enough clearance?

Can't you just use some high current connectors and rely on air gap for insulation? Exposed high voltage is a given any way ...

BTW, you forgot to mention if this was vertical or edge connect.
