Title: HIPOTRONICS HD115A HIGH voltage power connector
Post by: Crambone on August 11, 2023, 06:30:56 pm
I picked up a HIPOTRONICS HD115A AC/ DC Hi Pot tester and it didn’t come with output cables. HIPTRONICS wants around $800 for them and that’s just crazy! So I’m looking at replacing the through cabinet jack and making a test cable. I’m looking for some suggestions on what direction/ type to use?

Alot of 'custom' HV connectors use a standard 4mm socket at the very bottom of the socket assembly, the male part is usually a PTFE (or similar) with the 4mm male on the end.  For 800$ you might want to make your own.

Or you could replace with SHV connectors, be careful though - 5kV is standard, 10kV is available and I've heard they go higher.  You might get away with 15kV on a 10kV connector if you aren't at high-altitude and maybe add some extra RTV.

I looked at those but not sure it would work for the unit, it has a positive and separate negative connector. I’m guessing I could just use some HV cable to center pin.
