Aviation microphones have several types. Electrets, amplified electrets, dynamic, amplified dynamic, and more.
I came across a hand held transceiver that somehow autodetects the microphone type. This would involve setting necessary Vbias (aviation mics are higher voltage than commercial electret mics) and gain. How do they do this? Is there a special IC out there for it?

had some nato pilot headsets,im sure the mics were 600 ohm dynamic types, sounded low and basey on my ts-50.
