How to find an expert STM32 contract developer
« on: August 30, 2020, 08:53:51 am »
Hi all,

have tried posting on various freelancing sites previously, with mixed results, so my question is: how would you find a quality STM32 expert freelancer for firmware development?

The project will likely take 40-80 hours, paying commercial rates.

Regards,
Paul

You want expert for what? There is a huge diversity between STM32 micros. It is very hard to find a contractor if you can't specify relevant info.

Is it a SW or HW development? What HW is involved? Multimedia application with graphics, cameras, audio, wireless? Lora? Wifi? BLE? Battery powered? Application with USB, ETH,..?

Even though I have worked with STM32 for years, even in ST directly, I would NOT consider myself an expert on all of above. If you are looking for a contractor, you need to specify more info, other than "STM32".

PS: It is up to the contractor to estimate the time it'll take, not you.

Posting in this forum is a good start.
In fact, I wouldn't know where else to look  8)

Hi Paul

I'm new here and have no experience with STM32 development. However my only advice to you would be to, yes make sure you can find someone you think is capabable, but also you have to be able to sense that you can get along with them too. Remember you're taking the risk by spending hard-earned money on trying to create a commercial success so if you can sense someone is hungry, has the knowledge and is humble you are on a winner.

Cheers
David.

Hi

I might be able to help. Can you provide some more details about your project please?

It's software development to make a USB port and UART port work, or allow two USB ports to work and some work on Display (SPI) menu, rotatory knob  and SD card via FSFAT. Fairly straight forward software. Most stuff works but I don't have the time to finish it.

It's a fairly simple STM32F407 project. Writing firmware to use two USB ports or just one USB and one UART port. Further driving a LCD display over SPI, menu, rotary knob and reading SD FSFAT. All components but need to be completed and integrated. Hardware is available. Send me a PM and we discuss further.

Cheers, Paul

Although I've never had to outsource, I know a few who've done it via fiverr successfully. Put up your hardware list to those freelancers and see if one already has the kits in-house to develop onto. If not then consider outsourcing locally to someone you can send your hardware too...
