« on: May 24, 2015, 08:50:23 am »
hi everyone
does anyone own or know anything about this step up module: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-600W-DC-DC10V-60V-to-12V-80V-Boost-Converter-Step-up-Module-car-Power-Supply-/331457056813?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4d2c61502d
its just that it seems to good to be true and my guess is at that price it probably is.
thanks :)

Well, not the best capacitors used on it, and they probably will fail in a year, but otherwise looks reasonable, and for the price quite good. Just treat the ratings as an absolute max, and run at roughly half the current and with lower voltage input. You probably will change them if you want long life, and at least they do include a fuse for safety.

Haven't used one of those yet but have lots of the 150W versions. I won't use those at any more than half the rated wattage and the caps are just good enough to make it stable.  Always place extra caps at input and output.
