Looking for connector suggestions
« on: July 08, 2015, 07:55:04 pm »
HI

I'm putting together a bit of kit which will essentially comprise of a box mounted on a 3" diameter pole, with a remote sensor to attach to it by means of a multicore cable. I'm looking for a small connector to attach the sensor cable to the box. I'm envisioning the cable will be run inside the pole, so the combined connector shroud / strain relief / cable radius needs to fit within the 3".

Cable will carry power (<=12V <100mA), 4 data + Gnd
Data will be fairly low baud rate 115k max maybe as low as 9600
Needs to be IPx5 or IPx6 rated
Smaller is better as the connector will be threaded through a hole drilled in the pole
needs to be generally available in the UK

Not critical what the host connector will be, it could be either a bulkhead mount cable type or a PCB mount

This will be a commercial offering although a lowish quantity, maybe a few hundred at a time.

Would anyone care to give me some pointers or opinions towards connectors please? Not looking for specific part numbers - brands or series names/numbers will do.

Thanks

Cheers*... the Souriau product looks nice.

Actually looking at the C16 range switched on a little light bulb somewhere - I can use cable pigtails with an inline connector that'll remove some of the constraints and make installation & maintenance a bit easier.  A bit more expensive but that's not too bad as it's a high margin product.

* Was about to insert emoticon until I realised it was holding not a pint of Guinness but a DMM... must get a better screen!
