How to Pick a Current Sensor

(1/1)

LoveLaika:
I've previously posted on here that I'm working on a circuit to output positive and negative voltages with the LM2673 Buck Regulator, and a problem I'm facing is that I'm trying to measure the output current coming from each regulator. Initially, I thought of putting a sense resistor in place with my output loads and measuring the voltage across it, but I'm running into issues with that, mainly in incorporating it such that the feedback loop of my regulators so the output voltage won't be affected.

I've been thinking that my approach is totally wrong. So, I was looking into different methods of measuring current, which is when I stumbled upon current sensors, ICs that seem to be able to measure current when placed in series without disturbing the regulator. I never worked with such ICs before, so I wanted to get some advice on how to pick a current sensor that will fit my needs. What parameters are important in a current sensor, and what are some good current sensors that are inexpensive and easy to use?
