rigol ds1052d no coms with win 10 pc

Good afternoon,i have a rigol ds1052d scope,i have been using ultrascope fine until i upgraded to win 10 64 os,now it wont see my usb to rs232 cable,is there any drivers i can use with it for win 10?,i assume its a fake chip,if it is not possible can i use a max 232 chip?,thanks.

Is there any reason you're not connecting to it via the USB port on the scope? That will avoid any USB - RS232 converter compatibility problems.

I had this problem recently and my only solution was to buy a real FTDI to RS232 solution on amazon,my issues were between the pl2302/3 drivers no longer supported, fake ftdi's suddenly having a zero id for USB pid/vid and chx units just not working due to no charge pump for the rs232 side.
all solved using a real fdti solution, if you are lucky you might even find a fdti/max232 unit and those are ultra reliable.

as far as i know it cant be done via the scopes usb only rs232 port?.

The fake ftdi id problem is well known  FTDI gate  ..........

You can recover it using ftdi prog .... 

And use older drivers who wont mess your "non genuine" adapter,  just need to lock win 10 from upgrading drivers ....

its the same using the pc 232 port tho as well as the rs 232/usb cable,still the error 48 visa dll whatever it as not found tho.

No, a MAX232 does not have a USB interface.

it means you  have drivers / visa / ivi drivers installatin problems  re-install everything, and be sure your usb cable drivers are there too

or buy a good one / genuine ... i was tired to battle microsoft sneaky update(s) who where destroying my fake non genuine FTDI cable,
bought some costly one, no problems since

unless you use some obscure software or else    AND you have  4 kinds of ultrascope SW  choose the right one

I use them   and i have installed  Rhode Shwartz  Visa package, way smaller than NI Visa and works very well with many instruments / brands
