Hi all, I am following the forum like a ghost for a few years without an account. And opened an account at last. Anyway, I decided to make my own digital watch on my spare time (like many others), and share my design as an open source project . Right now I am trying to decide my design requirements. However I am stuck right now. I decided to open a topic and ask your opinions. If this topic receives enough input, later if anyone decides to make their own ideal watch, they may check this post later on for some inspiration (including me). I am not aiming for a consumer level design, but I do want to impress some of my colleagues ;D. Can you share which feature your ideal watch should include? Here some of my ideas I think my watch should include (in addition to showing the time of course): 433 MHz and 2.4-GHz wireless communication GPS 3D-accelerometer Compass Ambient light sensor vibrating motor Temperature / humidity sensor pressure sensor HR sensor (cheap LED ones) GSM 3g ? (I am not sure just I want your opinions) Hidden accessible serial port (might be a usage later on. IDK) Should have a decent look (should be wearable in the public/ in work etc. I don't want to have a bare bcp, or low quality 3D printed case.) Battery should at least last for a day for an active daily usage. I am waiting for your ideas :) |

I can say i need none of that, just a watch. |

Well, Considering the functions above, of course I don't plan to have a just a watch. I just want a portable Hub-like device which has a watch function. I am lazy so, I have 433 MHz remote controlled switches which controls various sockets and lights. My bicycle also has 433 MHz. transceiver on the wheels and on my pedal as well (for its crappy speedometer). I would like to read and record all those data later on and keep it on the watch/export it to a file vs. (basically a fitness tracker). |

Tom Van Baak also made a version of a super watch. He was featured in a TV special on time about his time dilution experiment. |

Sounds like you need the latest iPhone/Samsung/LG/Huawei/whatever rather than a watch. |
