Ideas to activate device after mounting it the ground
mrburnzie:
I have a product that is mounted in the ground. It is using sensors which need to be calibrated after put into the ground. It uses LoRaWAN to communicate. It is very low power device. The case is fully sealed (IP rating).
My concern is after it gets assembled, I don't want to turn it on, because it will stay in stock for a while which will drain the battery, so the solution is to turn it on just before it gets mounted.
Because the case is sealed, what are the methods to turn on the device? ???
What are the easiest methods to solve something like this?
Thanks!

I've seen people use a magnetic read switch to turn on power to a device when it's needed, where you place a magnet in the correct spot on the outside of the device to pull the read switch contacts together so the unit gets power. I've also seen orientation switching, where a ball bearings falls across contacts when the unit is the correct way up, and you store it "up-side-down"........

Yes, I was thinking of the magnet too, but the upside down thing I didn't! Not a bad solution!

same thing for a magnet you have some door alarms switchs who could do the job ???

Search for "rolling ball tilt switch" or variations on that theme!
