Interfacing CML devices at different Vcc levels?
« on: April 15, 2024, 03:27:15 pm »
Hi,  I've got various components in a signal chain which use CML input/output stages. However I can't find all the components I need in the same Vcc range. Some are 5/3v3, some are 3v3/2v5 and some are 2v5/1v8. So I can't makle the whole chain the same Vcc. I can narrow it down to one discontinuity - from a 3v3 output to a 2v5 input.

Our signal isn't DC balanced which makes AC coupling problematic.

Is there some easy way that I'm missing to interface a 3v3 CML output (which is internally pulled up to 3v3):

with a 2v5 CML input which idealy needs to be terminated with a pullup to 3v3 to satisfy the requirements of the output

Cheers.

(I couldn't get inline picture to work  and the links seem to take you to the wikipedia pages, rather than the images, sorry)
