Is a voltage follower really simple?
(1/1)
PythonGuython:
Hello I'm somewhat new to electronics and I've been designing a vocoder. Right now I've been working on a voltage follower that will provide the control voltage to my voltage controlled amplifiers in each frequency band. Is a voltage follower as simple as a rectifier? Or maybe a rectifier would lag the voltage too much? Let me know if the question is not clear.
OM222O:
rectifier is not a voltage follower at all! just google op amp voltage follower, any op amp should be able to take care of audio frequencies without an issue.

A "voltage follower" can have various implementations but usually doesn't involve a "rectifier".
This page talks about an "envelope follower":

Is that what you are referring to?
PythonGuython:
Yes that is what I meant, sorry! Not a voltage follower, an envelope follower
