Cable labels for little wires

Hi all,
I build a lot of one-off devices (often on vero), and I'm looking for a good way to label individual wires. I would also like to do it to label wires on my logic analyser so I don't forget which signal is which
. Unfortunately, most cable labels are for just that, cables. I'm talking about labelling breadboard sized wires aka AWG 20-24. Has anyone tried to do this before? Or alternatively, do you think the standard office labeller would be good enough?

I've used RS heat shrink 3 mm internal diameter cable markers for small (7/0.2 about 1.2 mm overall diameter) wires. They shrink small enough to stay put.
Interestingly, the letter Y is the cheapest.
(e.g. RS 392-747 Heatshrink cable marker ' Y',3mm i/d)

I have a little entry in my blog about this:
CLICK!
It's in Spanish, but with many images, easy to understand.

For really small wires, get some small white heatshrink, mark with a fine permament marker before shrinking, and then shrink - the writing will shrink with the sleeving
