Hi all,

I am looking for people to collaborate with on a project that is being run by the Australian government.

I'm an Australian chip designer but based in Paris. But I need someone based in NSW, AU to take part. I also need more people because it'll be lots of work.

I already have a few project ideas. Please contact me here or on the discord (DavidL)

1. Is this on behalf of your company NanoXplore?
2. What collaboration are you after?  Financial input?  Unpaid work?  Paid work?
3. What skills are you after?  Would you be happy with any random electronics enthusiast on this forum or someone with narrower specific ASIC CAD experience in certain environments?

Giving no information, asking for collab and directing people to discuss in more private areas is a bit scary.

So, you are asking for someone in NSW to act as a front for you, because you are in France, so that you can qualify for the grant? Excuse me if I say it sounds dubious. ???

1. Is this on behalf of your company NanoXplore? Not at all. They are just my employer.

2. What collaboration are you after?  Financial input?  Unpaid work?  Paid work?
I'm making no money from it. I'm just doing it because I'm interested in neuromorphic hardware and IC design. I only offer my time to people willing to join. I am happy to teach, learn from and collaborate.

RTL coding, block level system design, asic cad experience.

Giving no information, asking for collab and directing people to discuss in more private areas is a bit scary.

Cool your jets, there's hardly anything nefarious going on.

> It is just an open invite, if people are interested, they can reach me here or there.
The discord is hardly private, it is just an easier method to discuss than a forum like this. The forum is also not really ASIC focused.

There is not much information to give because it is open for discussion with people interested. It could be a RISC V something, calculator, anything.
It is more of a project like the MPW google shuttle if you're familiar.

I'm motivated to do a hardware project with people based in Australia because it requires a person in NSW. But I also want to increase my network in Australia, share my knowledge
and push the Australian semiconductor scene to grow because I'd like to have more opportunities back home. In Europe, the collab scene is much healthier than in Australia from what I can see.

The government initiative is open to anyone in NSW.

I'm upfront about that the fact that I live in France and looking for someone in NSW in order to take part in the project.
I'm an expat here because Australia doesn't have a chip design industry to work in (yet).

For anyone that joins me, they'd get to work with someone that designs chips as a day job and likes to teach others.

I don't just need someone based in NSW, I need someone with some understanding of hardware knowledge to contribute to the project.

If you look into what the government project offers, it is hardly anything competitive. 130 nm / 180 nm is basically what the MPW from google is offering.
Even Universities start out at a smaller node.

The initiative from the government is to promote interested people to get started in chip related work. Similar to the google shuttle.
It goes with the micro-credentials program they ran a while ago.

I had to laugh a little... if I had some industry changing idea to make money, I'd be at an incubator or pitching my ideas. And I would be making my prototypes on at least 22 nm...

I'm not based in NSW, AU, but your project sounds interesting! Have you tried reaching out to local universities or tech communities in NSW? They might have students or professionals who could be interested in collaborating. Also, have you considered posting in Australian-specific forums or groups?

I am in close contact with the professor focused on neuromorphic computing at Sydney University.

I've also been in contact with professors from Western Sydney University and we are currently discussing project ideas.

I've requested to work with Phd students but it seems they are occupied with research and teaching.

There is an Australian specific discord where I'm looking for people. I have to cast a wide net because the people that are interested in digital design and asic related projects are few and far.

Still... you miss all the shots you don't take.

:)
