pete g:
hi all, just completed this project. the unit seems to be working fine. the problem i.am having is trying to scale the meter. can't make heads nor tails of the software for doing same? I'am using a bigger meter than the author. the size of the meter I'am using is classified as a 44C2 size meter. can anyone help?

Jay_Diddy_B:
Pete G and the group,

When I made the prototype meter I did not use any special software, I used Corel Draw. This is described in this message:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/5-transistor-esr-meter-design/msg172136/#msg172136

At some point I made a table of meter deflection versus ESR:

I have 0 degrees as midscale, because that is how Corel works.

I don't have any experience using 'meter' software.

hi j, what I did was take the meter picture you provided and scaled it down to fit my meter. I must have screwed up, because the scale doesn't line up with the resistor values. i'll try again. thanks.

pete g:
hi j, finally got it right, working great. actually, thanks to the perseverance of my wife. bless her heart.

That's a really fun design - so much fun in fact, I made a video about it a few years ago:
