Laboratory power supply
(1/1)
frantal:
I would like to build a protected power supply unit for repairs using an isolation transformer and a variac.
I have modified a scheme found on the internet and would like to ask if you consider it suitable for the purpose or if you have suggestions for perfecting it.
The main and secondary switches are 2 thermal magnetic switches, one 16A, the other still to be taken.

Hi What kind of equipment do you want to test or connect to it ?
Tests and debugging ?

Based on your original design, I have come up with a slightly different design which I think will be easier to build and more fun to use.
I have replaced the input surge suppression by a simple timer relay(220V 0~5 second delay ON timer) which should greatly simplify the design and improve reliability. I always want an indication on whether the output socket is LIVE or DEAD so I added a voltage indicator. It works down to 12V AC.
I stress that will be my personal preference and yours will be different. Please let us know of your final design.
