Lead times from hell, a competition

(1/3) > >>

Renate:
I ordered some Texas Instrument ICs from Digi Key that were supposedly in stock when I ordered them.
I received this email today:

--- Quote ---We have experienced an inventory discrepancy on your Digi Key Sales Order.
The following has been placed on backorder and will ship once they are available.
Estimated Lead Time to Digi Key for this part: due approximately 19-Feb-2022
--- End quote ---
:palm:

I ordered some SST serial EPROMS from Digi-Key today, they expect delivery from the factory March 12, 2022.

I found stock at Mouser, when it comes in, I'll cancel the backorder.

Skashkash:
Got bit by that digikey "inventory discrepancy" thing last week.
Annoying to spend all that time to find and order a part that's showing in stock, just get that email a week later saying they'll ship it in a couple of months (hopefully).

Then start the scrambling all over again.

Miti:
I had a board with Altera Cyclone 4 assembled by JLC last month. I thought about running a small batch of the same board but there’s no Cyclone 4 in stock at JLC or LCSC in any package or size. None!
It’s really depressing.

moffy:
Seems to be a worldwide shortage in silicon these days. They shut down too many plants when there is a glut then need to rebuild when there is a shortage. :(
