I want to kick off this with infineon mosfets numbers are taken from SOA chart 1ms @ 20V AUIRF1324S-7P SOA =42A (D2PAK 7pin) DMN6068 SOA =7A (DPAK) AUIRFR8405 SOA = 30A (DPAK) AUIRFSA8409-7P SOA = 4.5A (D2PAK 7pin) AUIRFS8407 SOA = 40A (D2PAK) I am thinking, the 8405 and 8409 specs are wrong and should be AUIRFR8405 SOA = 3A (DPAK) AUIRFSA8409-7P SOA = 45A (D2PAK 7pin) any thoughts? and feel free to share any other errors/ambiguities |

Just grabbed the DS {AUIRFR/U8405 12 2017-10-04}. The corner of the 1mS curve, Fig 8, at 20V looks like 30A. That said, they own up to a mistake on that figure in an older copy of the DS "10/17/2014 Corrected label on SOA curve Fig 8 on page 4." |
| T3sl4co1l:
Sounds plausible at Tc=25C versus Ta=25C. Does it say? Tim |

| T3sl4co1l:
You can't heatsink a DPAK so that Tc=25C under load, but they rate them that way regardless. Or they often do. Whereas Ta=25C it's doing, a watt or so, and definitely not as much DC current. The difference could easily be 3 vs. 30A. Also matters what the layout is, if it's minimum footprint or, say, metal or ceramic substrate! Tim |
