| Lightning Cable off Buck Converter |

| jc0r:
Hi all. I am trying to make a custom project that contains an iPad that uses the lightning connector. I am trying to charge the iPad from a buck converter that outputs the correct 5v. Opening up the lightning cable, i have connected the red to the 5v and the black to negative. However, whenever i plug this in it will not charge. I have checked the pinout and it is indeed outputting 5v across pins 5 and 1. Anyone know what i am missing? Thanks John |

If i recall in some Apple cable(s) you have id chip, if its not present it wont accept a charge |

Short the data lines to each other. |

Many thanks NiHaoMike, worked perfectly. Thankyou |

Apple use different voltages on D+ and D- lines to tell the device how much current the charger can provide. Have a google for the different usb data line voltages |
