LM2679 short protection?
« on: November 23, 2013, 05:24:37 pm »
Does anyone know if the LM2679 has protection against shorts in the output? I have managed to destroy two of those before I realised what was happening and I believe it is because I shorted the output inadvertently by using an ammeter that requires isolated power supply (only the supply I used was not).

To lazy to read the datasheet?
I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.
For all else: Profile->[Modify Profile]Buddies/Ignore List->Edit Ignore List

"Resistor Programmable Peak Current Limit Over a Range of 3A to 7A."
Death, taxes and diode losses.

Yes, and you'd think that with the current limit resistor the chip would be indestructible. Anyway, it may be because these ICs are from ebay - they have given me a ton of trouble. I have ordered a new bunch from Digikey and will test when they arrive.

What? I just answered the question, the chip DOES have output short protection.
Death, taxes and diode losses.
