Load cell mechanical design

Has anyone seen a good resource (app note, text book, etc) for the design of common load cells?

In particular I'm interested in building a custom load pin (basically a cylindrical binocular cell).  However it would be interesting to look at others.

Obviously one can do this from first principles and/or use FEA, however given how common they are I'm surprised I haven't been able to find a 'recipe' book of equations for the dimensions of common types.

There are such books but offhand I do not remember any names.  A thorough search should turn up many but they will not be cheap.
