looking for a decent quality LCD

Hey,

I'm looking for a decent quality 16x2 LCD for a project and I was hoping for a recommendation. I've been scrounging some from an Elegoo knockoff Arduino kit and somehow all 3 of them that I have are broken in slightly different ways (mostly the data pins having very low resistance pathways to ground).

I don't really have any other requirements. I guess I would prefer one with the standard 16 pin configuration as opposed to something with an I2C interface.

Thanks.

I've used lots of random ones from China sellers and can't recall ever having a problem with any of them. Are you sure the ones you have weren't damaged by ESD or other incidents? You could buy them from mainstream distributors like Digikey or Mouser if you're having problems finding good ones elsewhere.

bitter_mike:
That's entirely possible. They weren't in anti-static bags, but all 3 of them being busted seemed odd to me.

I have bought many from random ebay vendors in China, and no problems. Traditional yellow-green, white on blue, white on red, they all behaved for me. I can send you one if you are in a hurry.

I bought a few cheap ones from China around 10 years ago, maybe they've gotten better since. Every one I tried had terrible quality displays. Poor contrast, ghosting, slow refresh, etc. Started buying brand names after that, Newhaven mostly because Mouser stocks them.
