Looking for a distributor/seller of NiZn/MnZn toroids
« on: January 23, 2019, 06:47:24 pm »
Hi all,

Does anyone know of a distributor of those ubiquitous green-colored MnZn or NiZn ferrite cores that are found in just about every switchmode power supply in existence?

At work, we have a few Chinese sources including China DMEGC and Tianming ...but for anyone playing at home, most of these companies won't talk to you unless you're buying 1Kpcs+.

Anyone know where to get these? Aliexpress has a scattered assortment, and without much info on manufacturer.

Really just curious more than anything.

Thanks,
Tim

SEMIC.cz  (they have large selection of Cosmo Ferrites (and others') products in stock).

Thanks all.

I kind of forgot that Fair-Rite makes lots of NiZn and MnZn cores. They just use a parylene coating and not the colored epoxy/plastic you typically see.

If you're not picky about them being green, you can get the same materials, yes.

Specifically, being common mode chokes, those should be the highest permeability, 10-15k mu_r, MnZn.

Fair-Rite, EPCOS/TDK, Laird, etc. are available from mainline distributors, and others from magnetics distributors like http://elnamagnetics.com/ or if you're desperate for a pricey web order, Amidon http://www.amidoncorp.com/
