Title: Low profile Ferrite core suggestion
Post by: ali_asadzadeh on April 01, 2019, 07:24:25 am
Hi,
I want to design a low profile product, so I need some ferrite core and bobbins to replace EE13 and EE16 transformers, Do we have something with low profile? Ideally if I can find something with 5 or 6mm height max it would be very nice. Also do you know some good and reliable chinese manufacturer to tell?

Tons!  Look at any catalog.  ELP, planar E and ER, and I forget what others.  SMT bobbins (vertical cores with low profile; horizontal cores with low width) are common, or you can make your own from PCB, usually with 4+ layer boards (planar magnetics).

Thanks Tim for the feedback, do you have a favorite manufacturer or part number? what about chinese manufacturers? do we have a parametric search engine out there? PCB sound nice, but a flyback transformer with about 80 turns of primary! Is it doable?

For a traditional wire-wound transformer, finding an appropriate core/bobbin combination with 5 or 6mm height sounds tricky. 10mm might be a little more realistic. Maybe take a look at EFD15.
