flush panel mount trim pot?
« on: November 18, 2014, 10:35:34 pm »
hello everyone,
i am hoping someone here can help me out with the correct name or point me in the right direction.  i am looking for a trim pot that will mount flush in a front panel that has a flat head screwdriver adjustment on it like what would be used to zero a gauge.  i have been able to find a few similar to that attached image but don't have the room in my case want something more like a regular pot.

Take a browse through these pots:

http://www.surplussales.com/Potentiometers/PBM-SlotAdj/PBM-SlotAdjIndex.html

HP also has a bushing that you can mount a pot flush with the front panel, their part #1410-0052.  It looks nice and the shaft is recessed, but they want US$6.57 for it from their parts dept.  I'm sure someone else makes it and you can find it for cheaper.  Pic below (obviously a new one would be nice and shiny.)

Hello everyone,

I know this is an old thread, but I would like to find something like this for a current project of mine too. The example in the photo would be PERFECT. I need something in the 200k to 300kOhm range.

I want to have a gain trimmer accessible from the outside of my project, but since it shouldn't be messed with, a flush or slightly recessed flat head screwdriver adjustment would be perfect. I've been scouring the regular suspects--Digikey, Mouser, RS, Avnet (? I think that's what they call Newark here). Maybe I'm searching with the wrong keywords, but I've been looking for anything related to "panel mount flush mount potentiometer". Is there a better name for this thing?

I'm in Europe now, but I actually grew up in Nebraska and I seem to recall my dad taking me to Surplus Sales as a kid!

Danke!
Jeff

Vishay 43P series is available as panel mount. I assume more than that, it’s just one I found in a catalog.

Bourns sells panel mount adapters for their trimpots. For example, the H83P is for the 3005/3006 trimmers. See https://www.bourns.com/pdfs/pnl_mnt.pdf

Also, the google keywords are “panel mount trimmer”. “Potentiometer” without the “trimmer” qualifier will produce non-trimmer pots, i.e. the kind intended for knobs.

Avnet is a giant that bought Premier Farnell a few years ago. Newark in USA is Farnell in these parts.

Also, how did you not find anything on Digi-Key?! If you browse their trim pot category, the parametric search includes “mounting type”, which lets you choose “panel mount”. They have 15 different models in stock right now.

Hey Tooki,

Well, it isn't that I couldn't find anything. I've been trying to figure out the closest thing to that HP trimmer in the photo. But, I do like the Bourns trimmer you linked. I'll see if I can make that work!

Thanks!
