What are the TPS2024B AC Adapter PSU specifications?
« on: October 02, 2023, 07:04:59 pm »
I've seen some non-OEM PSUs (on eBay) and the one whose label I could read said 15V, 2.5A, centre +.

Does anyone have  an actual Tek PSU for this scope - and if so, please could you post a photo of the label?

The manual has no details on the AC adapter, and Tek have failed to respond to enquiries.

I'd like to know what is the acceptable range of output voltage, and how much current the PSU should be rated  for. If the "centre +" can be verified, even better :)

sv manual page 22

External DC Input

Table 6: External DC input Characteristic Description
Voltage 15 V, ±1 V

The input is not protected from the electrically harsh automobile electrical system. Operation
from a vehicle requires a specifically designed external power supply.

Typical Power draw from External DC input:
2 channel models, charging a battery: 21 W
2 channel models, no battery: 13 W
4 channel models, charging a battery: 30 W
4 channel models, no battery: 18 W
Charging only, instrument OFF: 28 W

Current consumption
Maximum power draw from AC line by AC Adapter, 36 watts

Connector type 2.5 mm male. Use a mating connector with a 2.5 mm barrel hole.
Center conductor: positive
Outer conductor: negative

I would say 2.5 amp is ok,  even 3 amps  ....   to give good margin, and the adapter will heat less ...  it seems the maximum wattage is 30 watts,  witch is 2 amp ???
